The Various Types Of Campers For Fun On The Go

A camper is a vehicle with at least one bed, small kitchen, a bathroom and a living room area, much like a small house.  There are many reasons for using a camper.  You can go on a fun family camping trip, a weekend fishing adventure, a hunting expedition or you can travel from coast to coast.  Campers are versatile mobile living quarters that come in a variety of types.  When you are choosing one, you have some considerations to make like size, type, amenities and price.  As with any kind of vehicle, you need to be sure you are getting a reliable and durable camper.

The size you need will be determined by how many people will be joining in on the camping festivities.  Since festivities are followed by a good night's sleep you need the right amount of sleeping space.  For instance, if you were to buy a small pop up, or folding Coleman Yuma camper with two beds and there are five or more people going on your camping excursion then you will be cramped at best since there will be little sleeping space.  The same goes for RVs, travel trailers and other kinds of campers.

Let's cover the various types of this kind of vehicle. 

• Camping Trailer - Camping trailers are small pop-up trailers that you can haul behind your car or truck (preferable).  They are also referred to as folding campers. Jayco makes the Jay Series, the Jaja and Select Series camping trailers.
• Motorhome - A motorhome is better known as an rv.  These camping vehicles are self-contained living quarters that you can drive around the country in or park and stay a few days.
• Travel Trailer - Travel trailers are hauled behind a truck on a recevier type hitch and are fully functional living quarters.
• Fifth Wheel - The 5th wheel trailer is much like the travel trailer except the hitch has to be a fifth wheel hitch.
• Toy Hauler - The toy hauler is a camper with small living quarters (no more than 4 people) specifically designed to haul motorcycles or other ATV type vehicles.
• Truck Camper - Truck campers are designed to attached to the bed of your truck and are similar to camping trailers.  Northern Lite and Lance produce these for long bed and short bed trucks.

When it comes down the the amenities you will find that you can have just about all the comforts of home in these camping trailers.  Many of these camping trailers also have two or three way pop-out areas that make more room when you are parked and plugged in for power.  Remember when you are parked at a campground you need to make sure you have tie downs to keep your camping trailer stable.
