Making Camping Work For You With A Small Truck Camper
Camping is one of this nations greatest pass times. The beauty of it, in this day in age, is the versatility of being able to camp by pitching a tent or using something portable and convenient like a camper or RV. One of my favorite options, when it come to campers is the Small Truck Camper. These are ones that can be added on to the bed of a truck, also called slide in campers.
These versatile small truck campers are convenient because of the versatility it gives, you the camper, as well as the financial benefit. These campers are similar to pop ups because they are smaller than your full size RV but they hook right on to the bed of the truck freeing up your trailer hitch to pull anything else you may want for your excursion, such as jet skis or a boat. They cost much less than an actual rv because it needs no engine to get it from one place to another. That said, the different models vary greatly in price depending on amenities. On the cheaper end, around 12,000-14,000, you will find the Northstar Freedom which is basic but has everything you and your partner may need for a vacation. Now if you are looking for something roomier then you may want the 2010 Northern Lite 8' 11 Classic series. This has much more open space, a dinette bed, large 60 x 80 mattress and a kitchen table for four. This, however, will cost you about 30,000- 35,000.
Most small truck campers have at least a 2 burner stove, fresh water tanks, small refrigerator, working sink, and mechanical jacks. The height, weight and width of them will not only depend on your budget but also your truck bed size. If you have a small bed size then you may want something like the Northstar MC600, which is custom to fit small truck campers as well as import trucks. Any of the fancier models that state "long bed" will not suit the short bed truck. Keep in mind though that the short bed models can be just as nice although they may not be as large.

Camping does not always have to mean "roughing it" out in the wilderness with no running water or pleasentries. having something like a small truck camper can make it convienant and enjoyable to take the family on a last minute camping weekend. Dont let your family miss out on that quality time.
